Welcome to The City Inn Truro

The City Inn Truro stands as a quintessential example of a traditional British pub seamlessly combined with a cozy bed and breakfast. Nestled on Pydar Street in the heart of Truro, this charming establishment offers a warm refuge from the bustle of city life. With a well-earned 4-star rating, The City Inn is celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere and true local spirit.

Visitors regularly praise the personable and attentive host, Sonia, who brings a sincere warmth that makes every guest feel at home. The pub's character is deeply rooted in authenticity—a fading trait in many modern venues. The crackling fire and hearty meals, such as the slow-cooked beef stew enjoyed for just £2.50, invite patrons to relax and linger. Drinks flow freely, complemented by a friendly ambiance where even the resident greyhound adds to the charm.

The City Inn’s sitting rooms and simple rooms echo the pub’s unpretentious character. Guests rave about the breakfast, which is described as superb, adding to the overall comfort of a stay here. The absence of flashy amenities is notable; rather, the emphasis lies on genuine hospitality, free Wi-Fi, and a smoke-free environment, appealing to those looking to escape the sterile and impersonal nature of large hotels.

Its proximity to cultural landmarks such as the Royal Cornwall Museum and the convenience of Hendra bus station just minutes away enhance its value for visitors eager to discover Truro’s rich heritage. The garden, peaceful and inviting, promises even more with plans for an outside bar—further blending relaxed socializing with outdoor charm.

Parking challenges aside, The City Inn is a hidden gem that embraces timeless traditions while fostering an approachable, kid-friendly environment. It resonates with those who appreciate the simple joys of good company, quality drinks, and hearty food in an authentic setting. For anyone wanting to experience Truro beyond the tourist veneer, The City Inn offers a genuine slice of Cornish hospitality that is both comforting and memorable.

Drive past every day and have never been in until tonight. Last pub open in Truro. Had a lovely pint by the fire along with a hearty bowl of slow cooked beef stew. Just £2.50 and absolutely delicious. Welcoming and warm, with a lovely host, Sonia... we will be returning as soon as we can.

Great little pub that will certainly be my local now when visiting. Sonia is great, very personable and sociable with the customers. Good selection of drinks at decent prices. Garden looked nice, but didn’t get to sit out as it was raining. Apparently there’ll be an outside bar soon, so that’ll add to the charm.

Friendly with good quality food and drink, the B&B side is brilliant and well worth a visit. The Land Lady is a very nice lady who is ready to make your stay a enjoyable experience. Can't beat the superb breakfast. I'd very much recommend.

Popped in for a quick pint at lunchtime. Difficult place to park near. Greeted by a very welcoming host. Tucked away just off the busy centre of town. Lovely little back garden. Visually it's my sort of pub, you know, the ones that are dying out, a proper boozer. I don,t live in Truro but I will definitely be returning in the not too distant future
